More often than not, the larvae of many butterfly species in the U.S. are not considered to be cannibalistic. Therefore, it is more practical to remove the eggs from the plant they were laid on and combine them in a single hatching container. When they hatch, simply place on larval host plant.

Here is a photo of a small solo cup with multiple eggs of one species (in this case Hesperia juba) in one container. When the eggs hatch, place individual hatchling first instar larvae on host plant.

Sandwich Container
This picture shows a photo of a small sandwich containter with multiple eggs inside. Notice that the lid has a screen built in; so that when eggs hatch, the larvae remain inside until placed on host plant with a small paint brush or pin.
